This afternoon we were dabbling in some art and Lila got marker on her pants. I know, I know I should not have let her use markers. Anyone know what gets it out?
I went to take her pants off so I could work on the stain and she started wiggling and crying and did not want me to change her diaper. I told her that I wasn't changing it, only taking off her pants to wash them. Well, as soon as I took them off she ran into the bathroom and stood beside the toilet and said "poopie diaper." I asked her if she wanted to go in the potty and she said uh huh. So, I checked her first to make sure she hadn't gone and then went and got a book for us to read while she sat. As we were reading she was kind of grunting, ect. but more fake like than anything, so I figured she wouldn't do anything. Well, I get to the end of the book and Lila makes this face...yall know the one I am talking about....THE FACE. All the sudden she tries to hop off and says "all done." I just held her on there and cheered her on saying Good Job and told her what she was doing. She looked at it and I showed her what she did and got all excited. She just jumped off and told me to "close it" pointing at the lid. Normally she wants to flush and wash her hands. She ran into her room and grabbed a diaper for me to put on her. I think it totally freaked her out actually going in the potty. I pray it didn't scare her too much! I felt like I needed to reward her somehow and didn't want to associate anything bad with going. I wasn't actually expecting her to do it so I was not prepared. I did go get her a piece of candy just because it was the first thing I could think of and I was still shocked. I think I will do stickers from now on. Anyway..my girl went poopie in the potty!!! I have decided that if she asks to go then I will put her on there, but she is also only 21 months old so I know she is still so young. Honestly, what will propably be the most difficult is the pee pee in the potty. This girl hardly goes all day long, but usually pees through her diaper every night. It is like she holds it all day until she relaxes at night. She likes to tell me all about it too. I usually hear while changing her, "HOLY COW..soakin' wet!" :) So, I know we are a long way from being potty trained, but for now I will just revel in this "first" moment. I AM going to continue talking to her about going poopie before her naps whether it is in her diaper or the toilet. I am loving these 2 hour naps vs. the usual 45-an hour. I don't know what I will do with myself if she keeps that up!! I might actually get things done....or maybe just take a nap myself. :)
