Well, I think we had our first official "screamin, cryin', mommy and daddy won't let me buy a toy" fit today. I have been thinking that I wanted to get Lila a baby doll carrier for her baby when BBH is born. That way she can carry her baby while I am carrying him. I wanted to see if she would actually be interested in it first. We were at the dreaded Wal-mart so I thought I would swing by and see if they had one. They did, but not the exact one I want to get. (It is at ToysRUS.) We got it off the shelf and put a baby doll in it. Boy did she take off. She LOVED that thing! She loved it so much that she did not want to give it up. I almost gave in and just bought that one for her, but I didn't. I couldn't believe the fit she threw when we took it away. I was quite embarrassed that it was my sweet and wonderful child throwing a tantrum in WAL-MART of all places. She is usually easily distracted, but not today. When we finally reached the front of the store and decided to put her down, she took off going back towards the back of the store where the toys are.
I guess there is a first time for everything.
On a better note, I will tell you about some sweet things my little one has been doing this past week. She now points to eyes, ears, nose, mouth, head, toes, belly button, and hands. She also has started saying PACI very clearly as well as WAWA for water. Her animal noises are BAA, Neigh, Meow, HOP, and she sticks out her tongue and pants for a dog...too funny! She is still completely obsessed with ALL shoes, especially Michael's flip flops, which she can find anywhere. If you have on a pair of shoes she doesn't like she bangs on your feet and says no until you take them off and put on the pair she wants you to. She is also becoming a big helper with going and getting her diaper (plus 10.) She also likes to take her dirty diaper and put it in the diaper champ. She still can't figure out where it actually goes to because she gets on the ground and tries to look under the can for it and says "Where's it?" She is so much fun, AND challenging. I just hope she always knows how much I love her, even with the new baby coming.

There shall be Showers of Blessings
Showers of Blessings.. Showers of Blessings we need. Anyone remember this old hymn?
Well, it comes to mind when I think of the past week. We have been showered and blessed and loved on beyond belief.
I have the best friends a gal could ask for! I will start with last Sunday. I have to give a big shout out to by bestest AP and EC!! Several weeks ago, my dear friend called and said she wanted to plan a late summer cookout and knew our September was filling up quickly and wanted to know a date that would work for us. This is nothing unusual as we do this sort of thing often. I had an open house for one of my listings in Nashville and thought I would just drive down afterwards. I am notorious for being late, which I hate by the way. I do really try to be on time, but I always think I can do, "just one more thing." Anyway, I show up early thinking I can help her get ready for everyone coming over. Little did I know, it was a SURPRISE shower for me! I was early, but I loved it because I got to see everyone as they came in. It worked out well because I would have figured it out if I pulled up and saw every one's car there. In rolled friends that I have been a "slacker friend" to or haven't talked to in forever, but they still came! I feel so undeserving and even a little embarrassed and guilty since this is #2, but I was SO thankful and just happy to see everyone. I was still in shock that I am sure I was a basket case talking to everyone. So, if any of you read this..THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU is all I can say. You are the best.

***PLEASE NOTE***
That big cheesy grin on my face is NOT because I am excited about BBH having a UT jersey. It is because I love my husband and I am happy for him that his son gets to sport it. This came from the same couple who bought Lila her ALABAMA outfit last year!

Mason and Lila were pooped! How cute is this picture though?!?!

THEN...I had dinner with my girls on Monday night and what do you know? They show up with gifts for BBH (Baby Boy Harrell) too! They finally had to kick us out of the restaurant because we wouldn't quit gabbing and it was time for them to lock up. We somehow manage to carry on about 6 different conversations and never miss a beat! Unfortunately, we didn't take one picture. What were we thinking?!?!
Michael and I are so blessed to be part of a wonderful Sunday School class. Our class joined with another class on the day we had Lila last year. At that point we hadn't met everyone in the class yet and they still brought us dinner and loved on us so graciously. They also do showers for all babies of the family, not just the first, so we had a shower with them last night. It was super fun and I even won the "spell baby words out of alphabet cereal game!" This little boy already has more than he will ever need. And here I was worried he would be coming home in pink! I am just so appreciative of all the generosity and love that people have shown us. I have realized that with this baby, all of the "stuff" really just doesn't matter. I just want him here and for him to be very very healthy. God is good!

On another note: I was told several times today that I looked as though I was about to POP and that my belly didn't even look real. At least I was only asked once if I was having twins! :) Although I would love for him to wait another two weeks (at least one more), I just have to remember it is all in God's timing. Dear Lord, please let him at least wait until I get my hair done on Wednesday. I could really use a pedicure too!! Oh yeah...all in his timing, not mine.

It grows on trees, right?
Money that is. Oh my! I forgot how expensive all this baby stuff is. Plus, I have realized just how blessed and spoiled we were with baby #1 and all the showers. I must be totally getting into my nesting phase because today I spent the moolah! I mean...I even bought Dreft. :) I used it with Lila at the beginning before wising up and switching to the All Free and Clear. But there is something about bringing a new baby into the house that makes me want to wash his clothes/towels/blankets in the expensive stuff. I went a little overboard today and even bought a Halloween outfit for him. I know it is going to swallow him whole, so I will have to keep my eye out for just a cute little onsie and hat. I am still trying to find the perfect coming home outfit. I didn't have this problem with Lila because she wore my coming home outfit. Anyway, I wasn't totally frivilous. I did purchase items for me to take to the hospital, which means I need to get on this packing my bag thing. I am getting there, I promise. My nightgowns are in the wash as I type now...in Dreft of course. Who knows what I will wear home though. I have a feeling I will still be huge. What I did not mention in my last post about going to the Dr. is that I gained 5 POUNDS IN 2 WEEKS!! Holy camoly. What have I been doing? Oh yeah, eating a bowl of mint chocolate chip everynight. Or is it the bananna pudding, or the milkshakes, or the homemade cookies? Oh, I know...it is the peanut butter chocolate pie from Maggiano's....mmmmmm. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Anyway, the point of this post is to say that although my house is still not put back together, I have purchased many of the items on my list, so I am starting to feel much better. However, we still do not have a name....

Whatever it takes
So, as I mentioned before my house has been upside down with getting the new floors in. I haven't seemed to be be able to get motivated or be home long enough to do anything about cleaning up this mess. As usual, Michael has been working really hard and has been very tired as well. Needless to say, after putting Lila to bed and a long day, you just want to sit on the couch and not unload boxes or paint furniture. Well, I went to the Dr. today for a check up. I am dilated to 1 cm and his head is down! With Lila the Thursday before having her I still wasn't dilated to anything. So to be dialted at all at this point seems a little strange. I know that I can walk around for weeks like this. I know of women who have walked around dilated to 3 or 4 for weeks. I am not worried, although I do think it is good be prepared (which I am not), but this has totally gotten Michael in panic mode! Hey, all I am thinking is, "Whatever it takes to get him motivated, I will take it!" He did work a little late tonight at his work, but he came in and started painting and asking what all we needed to do. He also got down the bouncy seat and swing out of the attic for me to wash, as well as the car seat cover. Although I really need all 3 1/2 weeks that I have until my due date, I think I will just take advantage of his panic state and milk it for all its worth! Now, let's just pray that I really don't go into labor anytime soon. I really do have too much to do! :)
Just let her use her hands
I regretted those words as soon as I walked in and saw this!

On Labor Day Michael was in charge of feeding Lila lunch. He came in and asked me if it was ok if Lila didn't use her fork. I told him to just let her use her hands. He said, "Ok, but she is making a big mess." I responded by saying it was fine and that is how she learns. I didn't know that when he said "big mess" that this is what he meant! :) Oh well...nothing a little soap and water can't clean off.
I am sure she had a grand time too!

Just a glimspe...
I wish you all could see what I wake up to each morning. Every day is a
gift. Here is a glimpse of the little blessings we have been given.
